HOW LIL KESH TREATED ASAKE WHEN THEY FIRST MET

A throwback video shows the moment Lil Kesh and Asake first met in 2020 at the studio of Nigerian producer-turned-singer, Young John.

At the time, Asake was still unknown in the Nigerian music scene, while Lil Kesh, a former YBNL artist, was already a star with several hits. Lil Kesh, hearing Young John play Asake’s song from the other room, came out to express how much he loved it and started singing along.

He shook hands with Asake and mentioned that he also goes by the name “Ololade.” Asake responded that he already knew, showing how popular Lil Kesh was back then.

Lil Kesh said, “Nice to meet you, man. I love that song. My name is Ololade, you know.”

Asake replied, “Yes, yes, I know.”

Lil Kesh added, “You wrote the song for me.” They both laughed, and the video faded out.

Fast forward to 2024, Asake is now signed to YBNL, has billions of streams on Spotify, three hit albums, and is set to sell out the 20,000-capacity O2 Arena for the second time.

However, the way Lil Kesh was so humbled in the year 2020 when he met Asake who was still struggling to make a name in the Nigerian music industry has got many people talking online.
